Air Safari gave us an unprecedented chance to take terrific photos of Monument Valley from the air, as well as from the ground, all in a half-day round trip from Sedona. In a single engine Cessna, our pilot Scott flew four of us to Monument Valley in time to meet our Navaho guide, who treated us to a full tour of the area in an open air vehicle. Lunch was provided, as was a lively description of the ways of the Navaho and the peoples who preceded them. Upon our return to the Navaho air strip, Scott was there to greet us cheerfully and fly us back where we started. He pointed out landmarks, flora and geography along the way, such as old volcanos, the Painted Desert, the vast expanses of the Ponderosa pine forest, until the majestic red rocks greeted us in Sedona.
